The kimono selection, dressing, and simple hairstyling for women take approximately 60-90 minutes. After that, you are free to explore the garden at your own pace.
Please note that the final kimono return time is 5:00 PM.
To enjoy the garden comfortably, we recommend booking an earlier time slot.
Your journey begins in a traditional tea house located within Shinjuku Gyoen, one of Tokyo’s most beautiful gardens.
With professional dressing service included, even first-time wearers can feel completely at ease.
Once dressed, stroll through the seasonal landscapes—cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant greenery in summer, fiery leaves in autumn, and a serene winter atmosphere.

Please search for “Rakuu-tei Kouichi Store (Kimono Rental & Souvenir Shop)” on Google Maps before your visit. The shop is located inside the tea room Rakuu-tei within Shinjuku Gyoen. You will need to walk from the nearest Shinjuku Gyoen gates: About 10 minutes on foot from the Shinjuku-Gate
What to expect
A Unique Cultural Journey
Founded 174 years ago, Kouichi Store is a long-established kimono maker dedicated to preserving and sharing Japan’s rich textile traditions.
Begin your experience at the historic tea room Rakuu-tei Kouichi Store, located inside the tranquil Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Upon arrival, our staff will help you choose from a range of seasonal kimono designs.
Kimono selection, professional dressing, and simple hairstyling for women take approximately 60 minutes—ensuring a smooth and comfortable start, even for first-time wearers. Your rental includes an obi belt, tabi socks, traditional sandals, and a Japanese-style handbag.
After dressing, you are free to explore the picturesque garden in your kimono until the final return time. Please note that the final kimono return time is 5:00 PM. To enjoy the garden at a relaxed pace, we recommend booking an earlier time slot.
After your walk, you can also browse Japanese souvenirs and gifts in the same shop.
When finished, please return to Rakuu-tei Kouichi Store for kimono removal.
Please note: There are size limitations for the kimono, so if you have any concerns, please message us your size and body type when making a reservation.
Please note: The Premium Silk Kimono Rental may be affected by rainy weather. In case of bad weather, we may contact you by the day before your booking to request a change of date, a change of plan, or cancellation. Please make sure to reply to our message.
If we do not receive a response, your reservation may be canceled at our discretion.
If we cancel your booking due to bad weather, the cancellation will be free of charge.
