This is not a typical sightseeing tour — it’s a refined, insider experience for art lovers and collectors. Enjoy private access to Edinburgh’s art world, curator-led gallery visits, and a guided trip to Scotland’s top antiques centre.
Led by an expert art advisor, this tailored day combines cultural depth, personal connections, and the rare chance to discover — and acquire — exceptional pieces.
I will be delighted to meet you at your hotel and then we will head off by car within the tour program. You will be delivered to the meeting point or to your accommodation after the end of the tour.
If you don't require a pickup, we meet at the entrance of West Register House on Charlotte Square
10.00 AM - Your day begins in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, in a private townhouse owned by a local art collector. Over fine tea and pastries, surrounded by masterpieces you will enjoy an intimate lecture on Scottish art history, delivered by a respected art historian — a refined introduction to the cultural landscape you’re about to explore. From there, we will walk to Dundas Street and Stockbridge — the epicentre of Edinburgh’s gallery scene
11.15 AM - Private Gallery Visits on Dundas Street and Stockbridge Every gallery visit is scheduled in advance, and you will be welcomed as an expected guest. Current exhibitions will be presented to you personally, and upon request, works from private collections or back catalogues can be arranged for viewing. Thanks to long-standing relationships with gallerists and collectors, you’ll enjoy discreet introductions, meaningful conversations, and privileged access to exceptional art. Before your visit, I will ask for your collecting interests or specific preferences — whether in Scottish painting, contemporary art, or antiques — and tailor each stop accordingly.
1.00 PM - Heading for lunch & discovery at the Scottish Antique & Arts Centre In the afternoon, we travel 60 miles up north to the Scottish Antique & Arts Centre in Abernyte, a unique destination with over 100 expert dealers under one roof. En route, enjoy scenic views of the Firth of Forth and the iconic Forth Bridge — one of Scotland’s engineering marvels — as we pass through the breathtaking countryside. At the centre, we will dine at the elegant Café Circa, followed by a guided two-hour exploration of fine art, antiques, and rare objects from across Scotland. From 18th-century furniture to collectible silver and decorative arts — you will have an opportunity to find hidden gems and get something unusual for your collection.
5.00 PM - Return from The Scottish Antique & Arts Centre to Edinburgh & Reflection on the day. After our visit, a private transfer will return you to your accommodation in Edinburgh. On the way back, we can reflect on the day’s discoveries, discuss potential acquisitions, or arrange follow-up actions for any artworks that caught your eye. Vipartour is more than a tour — it is your gateway to the world of private Scottish and International art. Tailored. Trusted. Truly exceptional.
