Meeting and pickup
Pick-up from your selected location in Reykjavík begins at 7:00 AM. Please be ready at your chosen spot by this time. Depending on traffic and your pick-up location, it may take up to 30 minutes for the guide to reach you. We appreciate your patience.
Pick-Up times for the capital area and outside of Reykjavík are as follows:
Reykjavík City - 7:00AM:
- Reykjavik’s City Hall (Ráðhúsið) on Vonarstræti
- Hallgrímskirkja Church (Bus Stop #8)
- Reykjavik Campsite
Pickup points outside of Reykjavik:
8:15 AM – Selfoss N1 gas station
9:00 AM – Hella- Bus Terminal
Meet us at 11:30AM in front of the main hut in Landmannalaugar. Please keep in mind that you need a 4x4 vehicle that is permitted to drive on F-roads to reach the meeting point yourself.
What to expect
This adventure includes a 4-hour (8-10km) trek through some of Iceland’s most dramatic scenery, winding through the black lava of Laugahraun, the striking Vondugil Canyon, and up to Mt. Brennisteinsalda—its slopes painted with sulfur yellows, mossy greens, and red iron. You’ll descend through the vibrant Graenagil Gorge, named for its green rhyolite & obsidian black and blue hues.
This secluded region has long been a favourite among adventurers. After the hike, unwind with a soak in a natural hot pool, surrounded by panoramic mountain views.
The Landmannalaugar Day Hike is available with or without Reykjavík pick-up. If you're meeting us on-site, a 4x4 vehicle approved for F-roads is required.

- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- Minimum age is 10 years old
- Remember to bring: Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, packed lunch, and good hiking shoes.
- Hiking shoes and waterproof gear can be rented from the local operator by notifying them in an advance.
- If you want to bathe in Landmannalaugar's hot springs, please bring a bathing suit and towel.
