By late afternoon, arrive at a lodge or tented camp perched near the Ngorongoro Crater rim, where the cooler highland air and breathtaking views await. Day Five begins with an early breakfast at your lodge on the Ngorongoro Crater rim, followed by a prompt descent into the crater floor for a half-day game drive inside one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife sanctuaries. Often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," the crater is home to an incredible density of animals, and you'll have excellent chances to spot the **Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—**as well as hippos, hyenas, flamingos, and a variety of other bird species around Lake Magadi. Mid-morning, enjoy a packed bush lunch at a designated picnic site within the crater, often near a hippo pool. After lunch, begin your ascent from the crater and start the drive back to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport, arriving by late afternoon or early evening in time for your onward flight home, marking the end of an unforgettable Tanzanian safari adventure.
