At Adelaide River Cruises, guests will board a shaded, open-air boat and cruise along one of the Northern Territory’s most crocodile-rich waterways — right at the gateway to the sprawling Adelaide River wetlands. Here, they’ll witness the infamous Jumping Crocodile Experience, where powerful wild saltwater crocodiles like Brutus and Dominator launch from the water in an incredible display of strength and agility. Along the way, travellers can expect to see: Towering pandanus trees and mangrove-lined riverbanks Native birdlife including white-bellied sea eagles, kites, jabirus, and kingfishers The cruise is not just thrilling — it’s educational too, as expert guides share stories about crocodile behaviour, territory, and their role in the wetland ecosystem. This is the closest and most raw crocodile encounter in Australia, offering unbeatable photo opportunities and a rare glimpse into life on one of the Top End’s wildest rivers
On this stop we’ll visit Hooked on Barra, a purpose-built fishing facility designed to give everyone a chance at landing a barramundi. With two stocked ponds and all gear provided, it doesn’t matter if you’re a keen angler or a complete beginner – the friendly crew will have you casting in no time. It’s a fun, hands-on experience and a chance to try your luck at catching one of the Territory’s most famous fish before we continue our journey.
Our next stop takes us into the wetlands at Fogg Dam, one of the Territory’s best spots for birdlife and wildlife viewing. This reserve is home to thousands of native birds, waterlilies, and a variety of reptiles – all thriving in a spectacular floodplain environment. It’s a great chance to stretch your legs, take in the scenery, and capture some photos of the Top End’s rich natural diversity before heading back on the bus.
