This experience combines a guided visit to the local Emiliano Zapata Market with a hands-on cooking class at Gaby’s Restaurant, a historic family-owned restaurant in downtown Vallarta. Guests learn authentic coastal recipes using fresh ingredients from the market while discovering the history, culture, and culinary traditions of Mexico. More than a cooking class, it is a cultural and gastronomic experience.

Arrive at Gaby’s Restaurant, Mina 252, Downtown Puerto Vallarta, a few blocks from the Malecón and the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Your host, Chef Julio Castillón, will welcome you inside the restaurant. Please arrive 10 minutes before the experience begins.

What to expect

Join Chef Julio Castillón, a professional chef and certified Mexican tour guide, for a Seafood Lovers cooking experience in Puerto Vallarta. The experience begins at Gaby’s Restaurant in downtown Vallarta, where you will meet your host before walking to the famous Emiliano Zapata Market. At the market you will discover fresh seafood, local ingredients and traditional spices while learning about Mexican coastal cuisine. After selecting ingredients, we return to the restaurant for a fun hands-on cooking class. You will learn to prepare authentic Mexican seafood dishes such as fresh ceviche, fish tacos, shrimp specialties and traditional salsas using classic techniques. Chef Julio will guide you step by step while sharing stories about Mexican gastronomy and Puerto Vallarta’s culture. At the end of the experience everyone sits together to enjoy the delicious meal prepared during the class
