Arctic Tundra and Free-Roaming Reindeer Herd: Guests travel into the Arctic mountains to meet a free-roaming reindeer herd in its natural environment. Along the way, there are opportunities to observe the animals, learn about their behavior, and, depending on the season and conditions, help feed the herd. The focus is on respectful, non-invasive interaction guided by Sámi knowledge and tradition.

Lavvu Camp and Sámi Meal Experience: Back at the family’s home, guests are welcomed into a traditional Sámi lavvu where a fire is always burning. A wild Arctic meal is prepared and served, often featuring moose, reindeer, or ptarmigan on request, followed by a sweet homemade dessert. Outside, some of the family’s tame reindeer are waiting to be gently met. Inside, stories are shared and joik is sung. The family’s dogs are part of the experience too. The herding dog may show how he helps guide the reindeer, and the hunting dog helps provide food like ptarmigan for the fire. These dogs are not just pets, but trusted companions who live and work alongside the family. You might even get a paw-shake. This final stop offers a glimpse into how Sámi people live closely with animals, the land, and the changing seasons. It is not a show. It is a way of life, and you are invited to be part of it.
