What to expect

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of cuttlebone casting — a traditional metal casting technique using the bone-like shell of a cuttlefish. Perfect for beginners and jewelry enthusiasts alike, this workshop guides you through all the steps of the process. You can choose to make a pendant, a ring, a keychain, or a small talisman. Carve your desired form into the bone to make a mold. The instructor will show how to properly set it up for a successful casting, and will melt the silver as you watch. You'll put the finishing touches on your piece to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece with unique texture. Walk away with your own handcrafted item and a new skill rooted in centuries-old craft!

*The class instructor will do the actual torch work and casting while the students observe.

Please plan to wear closed-toed shoes, clothing that you don't mind if it gets a little dirty, and bring your reading glasses if you need them.

This is a 2-3 hour class (depending on the number of participants, it can take a little longer to finish all the castings. Plan for two hours for up to 3 people and around 3 hours for 4-6 participants.)
