"Miyama Thatched Cottage" is located in Miyama Town, Nantan City, on the outskirts of Kyoto. It is the most beautiful and non-commercial thatched house town in Japan. It retains Japan's most primitive rural tribal scenery and is similar to Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture. Ouchi-juku is also known as the three largest Gasshoya settlements in Japan.
