They are also known as "snow monsters." The snow monsters are formed by the combined action of strong cold air currents and snowstorms on the surface of coniferous tree branches, creating a unique snow-covered shape. The best time to see them is from January to February.

Okama Crater Lake (Departures Apr 26 – Oct 31) Known as the symbol of the Zao Mountain Range, Okama Crater is a stunning circular volcanic lake whose shape resembles a traditional Japanese cooking pot. Nicknamed the “Five-Color Lake,” its water shifts between emerald green, blue, and turquoise depending on the weather and season. Travelers can access scenic viewpoints near Mount Katta or the Okama Shrine to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the crater lake and surrounding alpine landscape.
