We are honored to host 24 distinguished winemakers in the monastery’s centuries-old wine cellar—masters of their craft from both sides of the border, representing the territory officially classified by Empress Maria Theresa in 1787.

Join us for a guided tour and uncover how her visionary classification laid the foundation for wines that continue to earn global acclaim.

Inside the 350-year-old Wine Cellar of Friendship and Peace—renovated and reopened in 2025—you’ll enjoy an exclusive tasting of carefully selected wines from this unique cross-border region.

A selection of 5 wine samples from the territory classified under Empress Maria Theresa’s CRU system, representing producers from both sides of the border.
A snack from local prosciutto and matured cheese.

What to expect

Welcome to explore the 350-year-old Wine Cellar of Friendship and Peace, recently reopened after renovation. Enjoy a guided tasting of wines from producers located in the historic CRU-classified territory of Empress Maria Theresa, including Collio, Colli Orientali, Goriška Brda, Isonzo, Vipava Valley, Aquileia, and the Karst region – spanning both Slovenia and Italy.

Degustation is called Territory of Exellence which includes five samples accompanied with prosciutto and cheese that reveal the fullness and elegance of flavours from the best locations, worthy of imperial heritage.
