Your adventure begins as our friendly guide and mountain crew meet you at the hotel for a short briefing before driving 3–4 hours to Kilimanjaro’s Londorossi Gate (2,200m). After permits and registration, an off-road ride takes you up to 3,500m, where the breathtaking Shira Plateau unfolds before you. From here, you’ll enjoy a gentle 5–6 hour hike (11 km) to Shira 2 Camp (3,900m). The trail offers a moderate climb—perfect for easing into acclimatization. At camp, our team sets up tents and prepares a warm dinner while you soak in the mountain atmosphere. As this is your first night at altitude, remember to hydrate well, avoid alcohol and caffeine, and take Diamox if advised by your doctor. Listen to your body, share any symptoms with your guide, and let the magic of Kilimanjaro embrace you. Trek Details: Elevation: 3,500m (Lemosho Glades) → 3,900m (Shira 2 Camp) Distance: 11 km Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
After breakfast, depart Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m) and head toward the iconic Lava Tower (4,630 m). This part of the trek involves several ascents and descents, bringing you to a high-altitude lunch stop where you’ll spend 1–2 hours acclimatizing. The views are stunning, though the altitude may challenge you. Afterward, descend to Barranco Camp (3,960 m), home to the impressive Barranco Wall—massive and steep, yet with a simple hiking trail for tomorrow’s climb. If anyone feels unwell, the group may bypass Lava Tower, reaching a maximum of 4,400 m instead. Elevation change: 3,900 m → 4,630 m → 3,960 m. Distance: 12 km | Hiking: 6–8 hrs.
Early wakeup and breakfast kick off the adventure as you begin summiting the Barranco Wall—leave early to beat the crowds! The climb is moderate, taking about an hour, with a perfect photo stop in front of Kibo Volcano. Next, a more challenging hike leads to Karanga Camp, featuring ups and downs along the route, with our expert guides setting the perfect pace. Enjoy a warm lunch before an acclimatization trek toward Barafu Camp (300 m gain) and return. These hikes boost your acclimatization, increasing summit success and reducing altitude sickness risk. Trek: Barranco (3,960 m) → Karanga (4,035 m) 5 km / 4–5 hrs; Acclimatization: Karanga → en route Barafu (4,270 m) 2.5 km / 1–2 hrs.
After breakfast, you’ll trek to Barafu Summit Camp (4,640 m), the base for your night ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Our team will have your tents and sleeping bags ready, so you can relax and recharge. Once rested, embark on a short acclimatization hike to Kosovo Summit Camp (4,800 m) and return to Barafu, where a hot dinner awaits. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the night summit. Trek details: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp — 6 km, 4–5 hrs, 605 m gain. Acclimatization hike: Barafu to Kosovo Camp — 2 km, 1–2 hrs, 160 m gain. Get ready for an unforgettable climb to Africa’s highest peak!
Depart from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) at night to begin your summit of Kilimanjaro, reaching the iconic Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). While the climb is technically straightforward, the high altitude is the main challenge. Each pair of climbers receives a personal guide to monitor your physical and mental well-being throughout the ascent. After celebrating at Uhuru Peak, you may visit the nearby glacier before descending back to Barafu Camp for a 2-hour rest, then continue to Millennium Camp (3,820 m). Important: 90% of accidents happen during descent, so watch your step to avoid injuries and toenail damage. Elevation change: 4,640 m → 5,895 m → 3,820 m | Distance: 15 km | Duration: 8–12 hrs
Start your day at our camp nestled in a lush tropical rainforest. Wake up feeling the relief of descending from the summit and the joy of your achievement. After a hearty breakfast, begin your trek down to Mweka Gate (1,640 m). Upon arrival, the group will celebrate your success, and you’ll have a chance to share your thoughts in the guestbook. Finally, receive your commemorative certificate at our office and enjoy a transfer back to your hotel. Elevation change: 3,820 m → 1,640 m Distance: 12 km | Time: 4–5 hours
After a memorable adventure, enjoy some rest at the hotel before your transfer to the airport. Please note that standard hotel check-out is at 11:00 AM.
