Tour Montenuovo, Lake Averno and Temple of Apollo
A unique journey through nature, myth and archaeology in the Phlegraean Fields. It starts from the Oasis of Montenuovo, the youngest volcano in Europe, with a panoramic path immersed in the Mediterranean scrub. Continue with a walk around the picturesque Lake Averno, considered in ancient times the door of the Underworld, among Roman remains and Virgil legends. The tour ends in Cuma with a visit to the Temple of Apollo, DA where you can admire a spectacular view of the gulf and relive the myths of the Cuman Sibyl. What to expect

Montenuovo & Lake Averno Tour

The tour begins with a suggestive walk on the extinct crater of the Montenuovo volcano, the youngest in Europe. We will climb along the path that leads to the rim of the crater, DA which offers a spectacular panoramic view of the gulf and the Phlegraean Fields. Once at the top, we will circle the crater ring, immersing ourselves in a unique landscape, shaped by the eruption of 1538.

Afterwards, we will move to the nearby Lake Averno, a legendary place that in ancient times was considered the gateway to the Underworld. Here we will also visit the remains of the suggestive Temple of Apollo, between history, myth and nature.

A journey that combines geology, history and mythology, to discover the power of volcanoes and the fascinating legends that make Campi Flegrei a unique territory in DA world.
