Fort Adams originally built in 1799 and later completed between 1824 and 1857. Fort Adams State Park is open to the public. Also home to both the Newport Jazz Festival and The Newport Folk Festival every summer.

Castle Hill Lighthouse was completed in 1890 and stands at the entrance to the East Passage of Narragansett Bay. The lighthouse is constructed of granite in a romanesque style and is one of Newport's most iconic landmarks
