We will start our wine adventure by visiting Baron Knyphausen which is a historic family-run winery in Eltville-Erbach, Rheingau, renowned for its terroir-driven Rieslings and elegant Pinot Noirs. A member of the prestigious VDP and fully organic since 2021, the estate cultivates famed vineyards such as Marcobrunn and Hohenrain, crafting wines that reflect centuries of tradition and meticulous care. Visitors can experience its heritage at the picturesque Draiser Hof, home to a wine lounge, shop, and restaurant. While we learn about the winery you will try up to 10 different wines from simple estate wines to Auslese (a selection of wines), sometimes even Trockenbeerenauslese (a selection of wines), ice wine, and even older vintages. This gives you the chance to gain a deeper insight into the diversity of our wines in a fun way.

The estates sits on a striking south-facing quartzite hillside—about 50 hectares steeply inclined at 45° with ideal sun exposure along the 50th parallel—yielding exceptional aromatic complexity and precision. Founded in 1136 by Cistercian monks, it became one of the largest wine estates in Europe and played a key role in developing viticulture along the Rhine. Today, the historic cellars—still in use—house the Hessische Staatsweingüter, producing acclaimed Rieslings from prestigious Rheingau vineyards. Beyond wine, Kloster Eberbach is famed for its Romanesque and Gothic architecture, cultural events, and its appearance in the film The Name of the Rose.
