We will start our wine adventure by visiting Baron Knyphausen which is a historic family-run winery in Eltville-Erbach, Rheingau, renowned for its terroir-driven Rieslings and elegant Pinot Noirs. A member of the prestigious VDP and fully organic since 2021, the estate cultivates famed vineyards such as Marcobrunn and Hohenrain, crafting wines that reflect centuries of tradition and meticulous care. Visitors can experience its heritage at the picturesque Draiser Hof, home to a wine lounge, shop, and restaurant. While we learn about the winery you will try up to 10 different wines from simple estate wines to Auslese (a selection of wines), sometimes even Trockenbeerenauslese (a selection of wines), ice wine, and even older vintages. This gives you the chance to gain a deeper insight into the diversity of our wines in a fun way.
We will visit this magnificent Schloss Johannisberg, perched above the Rhine in the Rheingau, which is celebrated as the world’s first dedicated Riesling estate, with winemaking at the site dating back to 817 and exclusive Riesling cultivation beginning in 1720. The estates sits on a striking south-facing quartzite hillside—about 50 hectares steeply inclined at 45° with ideal sun exposure along the 50th parallel—yielding exceptional aromatic complexity and precision. We will enjoy a glass of wine at their wine terrace with mesmerizing view of the Rhein valley.
Optional Lunch at your own expense at a local Cafe or Restaurant: Savor a fresh, locally sourced lunch or a tempting cheese and charcuterie board. While you wait, explore wines from 80 top Rhine winemakers. Tell us your preferences, and we’ll help you discover your perfect sip combined with your delicious regional meal.
Kloster Eberbach, located in the Rheingau near Eltville, is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval monasteries and a landmark of German wine culture. Today, the historic cellars—still in use—house the Hessische Staatsweingüter, producing acclaimed Rieslings from prestigious Rheingau vineyards. Beyond wine, Kloster Eberbach is famed for its Romanesque and Gothic architecture, cultural events, and its appearance in the film The Name of the Rose.
