Explore the fascinating natural scenery of Torres del Paine National Park with our guides and expert trackers on a wildlife photography excursion as we search for the quintessential predator of this wonderful place in the world on a three-day trip from sunrise to sunset. We will travel aboard our vehicle on the park’s inner roads, which offer spectacular panoramic views and are known to be located in areas where cougars maintain their biological corridors and hunting grounds.
We will find abundant local birdlife, such as guanacos, culpean foxes, squealing foxes, armadillos and many birds, such as the black-backed eagle and the majestic condor, sovereign of the Andean skies, among many others. As we focus on maximizing our chances of spotting and watching the magnificent cougar, the absolute king of the Patagonian Andes, we will explore the fascinating landscape of Torres del Paine National Park.
The pick up is one hour before the start of the tour, and within a radius of 4 km around Puerto Natales. Our booking team will contact you a day early to deliver all the pick-up details to the accommodation address.
We will start with pick up at your accommodation in Puerto Natales to head towards Torres del Paine National Park. With the assistance of our expert trackers and guides, we will scour strategic sectors of the park for the elusive cougar, also observing guanacos, birds and local flora. The tour lasts between 6 and 8 hours, combining vehicle journeys with short walks to viewpoints and sighting points. We will take advantage of the early hours of the day, when the cougar is most active, to patrol common hunting areas around Laguna Amarga, Lake Nordenskjöld and Lake Sarmiento, with spectacular views of the Massif Paine. Between morning and evening tracking sessions we will pause to enjoy a box lunch in a natural setting. In the afternoon we will continue the search in new sectors until the end of the day and return to Puerto Natales, with drop off at your accommodation.
We will pick you up from your accommodation to start the excursion to Torres del Paine National Park. With the support of our trackers, we will define the best starting point according to the previous day’s activity, thus increasing the chances of spotting cougars in their natural habitat. During the tour by vehicle we will enjoy spectacular landscapes and can photograph abundant avifauna. At noon we will pause for lunch with a box lunch and rest in a natural environment. Then we will continue with the evening, adjusting the route according to the conditions and activity of the cougar, especially active at sunset.
We will leave by vehicle for Torres del Paine National Park to meet with our trackers, who will define the itinerary of the day according to the activity of the cougar. During the excursion we can photograph the fauna and spectacular landscapes of the park, with the possibility of seeing the great predator of Patagonia in its natural habitat. We’ll pause for a box lunch before continuing with our last day of exploration. Around 17:30 hrs. we will finish the activity and return to Puerto Natales, with drop off at your accommodation.
