Your tour begins in the Jalatlaco neighborhood, one of Oaxaca’s oldest and most charming areas, known for its cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and vibrant street art.
We pass by Paseo Juárez “El Llano” Park, a historic site and one of the city’s main green spaces.
Next, we visit the Xochimilco Arches, part of an 18th-century aqueduct that once supplied water to the city and remains an architectural and historical landmark.
We then explore ARIPO (Artesanías e Industrias Populares de Oaxaca), where artisans from across the state showcase and sell unique handmade crafts.
Your final stop is the stunning Santo Domingo de Guzmán Temple, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and one of Oaxaca’s most iconic and photographed landmarks.
We will meet at the plaza of the Temple of San Matías Jalatlaco.

Stop by the charming San Matías Jalatlaco Temple, a hidden gem from the 16th century. Nestled in one of Oaxaca’s oldest neighborhoods, it’s the perfect spot to soak in colonial vibes and local history. We’ll also kick off with a quick intro about Oaxaca before continuing our adventure as we walk through the vibrant Jalatlaco neighborhood to admire its colorful murals.
Paseo Juárez El Llano is a peaceful park. Once a zoo, it’s now a perfect spot to relax while learning about Benito Juárez, a key figure in Mexican history. Here, we’ll also see the cochineal insects living on the prickly pear cactus, a unique part of Oaxaca’s natural heritage.
The Xochimilco Arches were part of a colonial aqueduct designed to bring water from nearby springs to downtown Oaxaca. This impressive structure not only supplied water to the city but has become an important architectural and cultural symbol of Oaxaca.
ARIPO (Regional Association of Oaxaca Producers) is a space dedicated to promoting and preserving Oaxaca’s traditional crafts and products. Here, you can discover local talent, explore authentic handmade goods, and support artisans who keep Oaxaca’s culture alive.
At our final stop, we admire the stunning Santo Domingo de Guzmán Church from the outside. This beautiful example of Baroque architecture is a true Oaxaca icon. Here, we’ll wrap up our tour, answer any questions, and say goodbye.
