Waist Beads Making Activity - Afrikana Beach house

2 hours 30 minutes (approximately)
Offered in: English

This isn’t just a craft session — it’s a cultural journey. Sip & Strand blends creativity, storytelling, and relaxation in a way that few experiences do. You’ll not only learn the symbolism behind traditional Ghanaian waist beads but also create your own strand that carries personal meaning.

Unlike a typical activity, this is an intimate beachfront gathering where drinks, laughter, and sisterhood flow as freely as the ocean breeze. With the sun setting as your backdrop, you’ll leave not only with a handmade keepsake but also with memories of connection, culture, and celebration that you can’t find anywhere else.

What to expect

During this unique experience, you’ll enjoy an afternoon of creativity, culture, and relaxation. After a warm welcome, you’ll be guided through the history and symbolism of traditional Ghanaian waist beads — their meanings, their use in different stages of life, and their connection to femininity and self-expression.

With a drink in hand (cocktail, mocktail, or tea), you’ll learn how to strand your very own waist bead, selecting colors, charms, and styles that reflect your personal intention. Our facilitators will guide you step by step, ensuring your strand is both beautiful and meaningful.

Alongside the hands-on activity, you’ll have time to mingle, share stories, and soak in the serene ambience of our venue. All set against the backdrop of the beach, with the chance to witness a stunning ocean sunset as you complete your creation.

At the end of the session, you’ll leave with your handcrafted waist bead — a cultural keepsake and a personal reminder of your time in Accra.
