The tour starts with a walk from Himeji Station to Egret Himeji through local backstreets, where your guide will introduce recommended local lunch spots and hidden areas of the city.

At Egret Himeji, you can enjoy a full front view of Himeji Castle and gain a deeper understanding of the castle’s overall structure and design.

After that, you will explore inside Himeji Castle while your guide explains the castle’s defensive design, the structure of its gates, and the architectural ingenuity behind features such as the famous white plaster walls.

Throughout the tour, stories connected to the castle—such as samurai, master warriors, ninja, and legendary ghosts—are introduced with fun mini role-play moments at key locations.

    Egret Himeji is a building located near the entrance of Himeji Castle and offers the only spot where visitors can enjoy a close, unobstructed front view of the entire castle. From this unique viewpoint, your guide will explain the highlights of Himeji Castle based on the four key elements of traditional Japanese castle construction: site selection, layout design (including baileys, gates, and moats), civil engineering works, and the construction of the castle buildings themselves. By learning about the castle’s structure and design philosophy before entering the castle grounds, you will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of what you will see inside. To make the experience more engaging, the tour begins with a small immersive scenario where participants prepare as if heading into battle at Himeji Castle, creating an exciting start to the tour.
