What to expect

Spend time with a Buddhist monk at a peaceful temple in Sakura, near Tokyo and Narita Airport. This private three-hour experience combines Zen meditation, tea, and conversation, offering a personal encounter with Japanese Buddhist culture.

With your English-speaking guide interpreting, learn directly from the monk about posture, breathing, and focus in seated Zen meditation. Settle into the quiet surroundings and pay attention to the present moment. Beginners are welcome; no meditation experience is needed.

After meditation, the monk will personally serve tea and traditional Japanese sweets. Share this unhurried time, ask questions about Zen, and hear his perspective on the practice and everyday life. Your guide helps you communicate beyond the language barrier, allowing a deeper exchange.

For travelers staying in Tokyo or Narita, this is a chance to slow down and connect with Japan's living Buddhist traditions.

Meet your guide at Keisei-Yukarigaoka Station and walk to the temple. Optional meet-and-assist by train from Narita Airport or a central Tokyo hotel is available for an additional fee and must be arranged in advance.
