We will arrive at Daws Hill Vineyard, which is located within the very lovely Radnage Valley, and be met by Holly, the owner and winemaker. Holly will introduce herself and tell us about her wine story before taking more broadly about English wine and her experience making wine in the Chilterns. Daws Hill is one of the few vineyards in the Chilterns with a winery on-site and you will be able to see the barrels while listening to Holly discuss her process. Holly will then present 3 different wines for you to taste, providing background information around her approach to selecting grapes and making wine.
Our second stop on the tour will be at Woodfine Wine, based in Seer Green. Set in another picturesque section of the Chilterns, Richard will welcome us to his vineyard. Each three vineyards that we visit on the day will be very different and Woodfine sets itself apart as a natural winemaker. You will get the opportunity to take tour of the farm (with a glass of wine in hand) and learn about how Richard goes about making authentic natural wine. Incorporating inventive natural ways to solve age-old farming challenges without intervening in the process. After touring the vines and listening to Richard, a 2 course lunch will be served at the Barn, paired with another glass of wine.
The next stop after lunch will be Dropmore Vineyard, visiting Feona, the owner. Feona will showcase 3 of her award-winning wines, giving you plenty of time to learn more about how she ventured into winemaking. She also provides insight into how the first vines were planted while being able to introduce her unique proposition in the 'Ortega' variety.
