We have two pick up points. PICK UP 1: If suburban Detroit is easier, meet our team at the Southfield Public Library parking. In the parking lot you will see a White Bus in the parking lot with visible Heart of our company Signage. Look for the signage and the bus. PICK UP LOCATION 2 is located in Detroit, Michigan. If you prefer to meet us in Detroit, Michigan. The Detroit Historical Museum lot on Kirby St. (between Woodward and Cass Avenues) Parking is $10 a car. As an added benefit for visitors, the Detroit Historical Museum lot offers three free EV charging stations, available on a first come first served basis. Please Note: When you pull into the museum lot, use the touchscreen kiosk to select "get a ticket" to enter. When you exit the lot, you will scan your ticket to pay your parking fee. At the corner of Kirby and Cass, you will find the White Bus with Heart of our company Signage. Alternative option: We can pick you up directly from your hotel or Air Bnb location.
Jefferson-Chalmers – Riverfront and Jazz Roots Stroll through the Jefferson-Chalmers Historic District. Talk about the neighborhood’s jazz/blues heritage and cultural revival. Photo stop by a community mural. Quick stop at a local coffee shop for coffee/tea.
Lunch at a local Coney Island sampling food items unique to those from Detroit.

Southwest Detroit (Mexicantown) – Food and Murals Guided walk along Bagley Street, explore Mexicantown murals. Stop at local bakery for a sweet treat. Storytelling: immigration, culture, and today’s thriving Latino community.
Westside / Brightmoor – Resilience & Art Visit the Brightmoor Artisans Collective or community farms. See how residents turned abandoned lots into gardens and art spaces. Storytelling: from challenges to community-driven revival.
University District, Palmer Woods, and Boston Edison District (Affluent Neighborhoods) Palmer Woods: Historic mansions, tree-lined boulevards, legacy of Detroit’s upper/middle-class Black families. University & Boston Edison District: Architectural gems, strong neighborhood associations, beautiful homes. Storytelling: Black professionals, artists, and entrepreneurs who made these areas thrive. Photo stop: In front of various iconic homes.
Livernois Avenue of Fashion (Black Business District) Once the hub of Black-owned businesses during segregation — today, a revived corridor of fashion, food, and culture. This is time you can get to shop on your own. Stops could include but are not limited to: Detroit Pizza Bar (Black-owned restaurant, community anchor). Good Cakes and Bakes (popular bakery featured on national TV). Art galleries & boutiques run by Detroit entrepreneurs. Storytelling: Civil Rights era, Detroit’s Black economic power, and today’s entrepreneurial spirit.
