This 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour brings together some of southern Morocco’s most impressive landscapes in one journey. Travel across the High Atlas Mountains, explore the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou, discover the dramatic Todra Gorge, and continue to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
The experience combines cultural discovery, scenic road travel, traditional villages, desert landscapes, a camel trek through the Sahara, and an overnight stay in a desert camp. With accommodation in the Dades Valley and Merzouga included, travelers can experience both mountain and desert environments without having to organize each part separately.

1Tizi n Tichka
Depart Marrakech in the morning and travel across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains. Drive through traditional mountain villages and stop at panoramic viewpoints along the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, one of Morocco’s most scenic mountain roads.

2Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou
Continue to the UNESCO-listed Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages. Enjoy time to explore its traditional earthen architecture, narrow pathways, and panoramic viewpoints. The historic ksar has also served as a filming location for numerous international movies and television productions.

3Ouarzazate
Continue through Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the Sahara. Enjoy views of the surrounding desert landscapes before continuing toward the palm groves of Skoura and the Valley of Roses.

Travel through the Valley of Roses and continue into the dramatic landscapes of the Dades Valley. Arrive at your accommodation in the evening, where you can relax and enjoy dinner before spending the night in the Dades area.

5Todra Gorge
After breakfast, leave the Dades Valley and travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Tinghir. Continue to the spectacular Todra Gorge, known for its towering canyon walls and dramatic scenery. Enjoy free time to walk through the gorge, take photographs, and explore the surroundings.

6Merzouga
Continue through southeastern Morocco toward Merzouga, located at the edge of the Sahara Desert. On arrival, prepare for the highlight of the journey: an excursion into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

7Erg Chebbi
Set out on a camel trek across the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes and experience the changing colors of the Sahara as the sun begins to set. Continue to the desert camp, where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of the Sahara.

8Merzouga
Wake early to experience the peaceful morning atmosphere of the Sahara and, when conditions allow, watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast at the camp, leave the desert and begin the return journey toward Marrakech.

9Draa Valley
Travel through the landscapes of southern Morocco toward Tazarine and Agdez. Pass through the Draa Valley, known for its extensive palm groves, traditional villages, kasbahs, and contrasting desert scenery.
