Please meet at Centro Comercial Olimpo, Avenida do Infante 11. The entrance is between the Casino Park Hotel and the Savoy Palace Hotel. Once inside, go to Floor 0 (Piso 0) and look for Store 107. I will be waiting there to welcome you.

What to expect

Learn how to make Madeira’s traditional honey cake in a hands-on cooking class led by a welcoming local chef in the heart of Funchal.

In this 1-hour experience, you’ll learn how to make Bolo de Mel, Madeira’s most iconic and historic dessert, traditionally prepared during the festive season. Using local ingredients such as cane honey and fragrant island spices, you’ll mix, knead, and shape your own mini honey cake while discovering the cultural stories behind this beloved recipe.

Because the traditional Madeira honey cake needs resting time before baking, your dough will be prepared during the workshop and baked later. You’ll take your cake home (or pick it up once it’s ready) — just as Madeiran families have done for generations.

This workshop is relaxed, family-friendly, and perfect for children, couples, and anyone looking to experience an authentic slice of Madeiran life. No baking experience is needed — simply bring curiosity and enjoy a warm, welcoming atmosphere while learning a unique local tradition.
