Hegra (Madain Saleh) – UNESCO World Heritage Site Our first stop is the awe-inspiring Hegra (Madain Saleh), the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia. Once known as Al-Hijr (or Hegra in Greek), this ancient city was the southern capital of the Nabatean Kingdom, flourishing between the 2nd century BCE and 106 CE. Here, you’ll explore over 90 monumental tombs carved into sandstone outcrops, featuring elaborate façades and inscriptions that reveal the skill and artistry of Nabatean builders. Your guide will uncover the fascinating stories behind these tombs, ancient carvings, and the trade routes that made this city prosper.
Lunch in Al Ula After exploring Hegra, enjoy a relaxing lunch in Al Ula city, with time to rest and take in the tranquil desert surroundings.
Jebel Al-Fil (Elephant Rock) In the afternoon, we continue to Jebel Al-Fil (Elephant Rock), one of the region’s most iconic natural formations. This massive sandstone structure — shaped like an elephant touching the ground with its trunk — provides a perfect setting to unwind, take photographs, and admire the breathtaking desert vistas, especially as the sunlight changes colors over the rock.
