Your tour begins in the Hira District, located near the sacred Mount Hira. We start with a visit to the Revelation Exhibition, a unique cultural landmark dedicated to the story of divine revelation to Prophet Muhammad. The exhibition vividly presents the momentous event when Angel Jibreel (AS) first descended with the message of the Holy Qur’an inside the Cave of Hira. Through engaging visuals, interactive displays, and detailed exhibits, visitors gain deep insight into the life of the Prophet, the beginning of the message of Islam, and the early years of revelation.
Next, we explore the Museum of the Holy Qur’an, the first museum of its kind in Makkah devoted entirely to the Book of Allah. This modern and interactive museum showcases the greatness and timeless influence of the Qur’an through ancient manuscripts, rare artifacts, and digital exhibits illustrating the Qur’an’s preservation, teachings, and impact on Muslim civilization.
We then ascend to Jabal Al Nour, also known as the Mountain of Light, home to the sacred Cave of Hira. It was here, in Ramadhan 610 CE, that Prophet Muhammad received the first revelation of the Qur’an. The mountain holds immense spiritual significance and offers panoramic views of Makkah and the Holy Mosque, making it one of the most revered and visited sites for pilgrims and visitors alike.
Lunch on your own. Museum of Makkah After lunch, we visit the Museum of Makkah, a fascinating institution dedicated to Islamic history, culture, and art. The museum features seven exhibition halls housing over 100,000 artifacts, including ancient Qur’anic manuscripts, Islamic calligraphy, and relics that reflect centuries of Muslim achievements in architecture, science, and governance. It also serves as a place of cultural exchange, where Muslims from around the world can connect through shared history and heritage.
Your next stop is the Mosque of the Jinn, a historic site mentioned in the Qur’an (Surah Al-Jinn). It is believed to be the place where a group of jinn listened to Prophet Muhammad reciting the Qur’an, after which they embraced Islam and pledged their allegiance to him — a moment that highlights the universality of the Prophet’s message.
We then visit the Kiswa Factory of the Holy Kaaba, where the Kaaba’s sacred black covering (Kiswa) is produced annually. Crafted from pure black silk and embroidered with gold and silver threads, the Kiswa bears beautifully written Qur’anic verses and supplications. Visitors will observe the meticulous production process carried out by more than 200 skilled craftsmen, a tradition overseen by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.
Your final visit is to the Exhibition of the Two Holy Mosques Architecture, a museum that showcases the historical development and architectural heritage of both the Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid An-Nabawi in Madinah. The exhibition includes models, inscriptions, artifacts, and rare photographs, featuring highlights such as the old door of the Kaaba, sections of the Kiswa, and a preserved copy of the Mushaf of Uthman (RA) from the 7th century CE.
