Descend 100 meters (330 ft) underground along a safe path of over 680 steps, where you’ll marvel at rare and impressive rock formations illuminated by LED lighting and hear the gentle flow of water. Next, stop near the medieval castle of Porto de Mós, a tiny yet important defensive castle that was converted into a Renaissance-style palace. Begin your adventure with a visit to the Mira de Aire Caves, one of Portugal’s Seven Natural Wonders. Descend 100 meters (330 ft) underground along a safe path of over 680 steps, where you’ll marvel at rare and impressive rock formations illuminated by LED lighting and hear the gentle flow of underground rivers. At the end of your visit, a lift will bring you back to the surface. Please note that access to the caves is only possible through a third-party operator. Even on private tours, the visit inside the caves is conducted by their own staff in group format, in order to ensure all safety protocols are followed.
