You can walk through the meticulously restored 18th-century British garrison. A guide will lead you through the officers' quarters, barracks, and powder magazines. You can stand alongside the original cannons still perched on the stone ramparts. From these vantage points, you can look out over Prince Rupert Bay and imagine the colonial naval battles that once took place in those waters.

    Indian River

Enjoy a Peaceful Rowboat Ride: You will sit back and relax as your guide skillfully navigates the Indian River waters. The lack of engine noise allows you to hear the rustle of the leaves and the calls of the Sisserou and Jaco parrots that occasionally fly overhead. You can hop off the boat to stretch your legs and walk through a small botanical garden filled with local flowers. Beyond the mangroves, you will see a variety of tropical plants, including wild ginger, ferns, and lilies that thrive in the brackish water where the river meets the sea.

    Syndicate Falls

A tour of Syndicate Falls offers a refreshing immersion into the Morne Diablotin National Park, combining an easy rainforest trek with world class birdwatching and a spectacular 100-foot cascade. The journey to the falls is a short but adventurous trek that places you in the heart of Dominica's lush interior. * Hike the Syndicate Trail: You will walk a relatively flat, 15-minute path through primary rainforest characterized by massive, prehistoric-looking buttress roots and diverse tropical flora. * River Crossings: The trail involves crossing a shallow river approximately four times, providing a fun and authentic "jungle" experience that keeps the hike engaging. * Swim at the Base: Upon arrival, you can see the dramatic 100-foot drop of the falls as it plunges into a clear, cool pool that is perfect for a refreshing swim or natural hydrotherapy.

Purple Turtle Beach is one of the most vibrant spots in the north of Dominica, offering a mix of relaxation and local energy. The beach features light-brown volcanic sand and calm, shallow waters. It is well-equipped with lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent. You can snorkel right off the shore. While not a "bubbly" reef like Champagne Reef in the south, you'll find volcanic rock formations and small coral patches with tropical fish.
