This 2-hour tour was created for those who want to live Sintra on foot, with calm, authenticity and no rush. Everything is organized so that you just enjoy: history, local culture, a typical candy and the entry ticket to the Sintra National Palace are included.
The experience begins with a specialist local Guide, who shares stories, curiosities and secrets outside of traditional scenarios. The journey begins at Largo do Soldado Esquecido, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Villa, with views of palaces, hills and colorful roofs.
Along the way, you’ll discover romantic 18th-century chalets, charming streets and the Volta do Duche, surrounded by nature and local life. You also pass the Gardens of Liberty and Fonte Mourisca, with ideal stops for photos and moments of break.
The tour ends at the Largo do Palácio Nacional da Villa, with the taste of a traditional candy and the delivery of the ticket, to explore the palace at your own pace and without stress.

The Volta do Duche is a very representative historic road in the centre of Sintra, which makes the connection between the old Villa and higher areas. The name “Duchy” comes from the old public baths, created in 1848 by the doctor Bernardino Egídio da Silveira e Castro. These baths operated until around 1908. There is also a spring of groundwater, known as the Volta do Duche Mine, which supplied the Villa and other areas for decades. It is also a cultural space, holding a monthly Crafts Show, which celebrates the local identity and attracts visitors.

2Fonte Mourisca
Fonte Mourisca is one of the most emblematic points of Sintra, Portugal, known for its neo-Mourisco-inspired architecture. Built in 1922, it stands out for the arches in ferradura, geometric patterns and rich decoration that refer to the Arab heritage of the Iberian Peninsula. Located on the Volta do Duche, the main road that connects the railway station to the historic center, the fountain has become a symbol of welcoming visitors. In addition to its aesthetic value, Fonte Mourisca represents the combination of tradition, romanticism and cultural identity that characterizes Sintra, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
