Meeting and pickup
We will meet at the East Exit gate of Odakyu Line Shimokitazawa Station. It is on the side with a spacious pedestrian area (the station square currently under development).
What to expect
Listen and Enjoy: First, listen to live performances of some of the most famous Kabuki pieces. With just three strings, the shamisen can express powerful, festive, or deeply emotional melodies. Feel the unique atmosphere of each piece.
Play and Enjoy: Even complete beginners will learn easily. You will be guided on how to hold the plectrum (bachi) and position the shamisen. After practicing the basic techniques, try playing the well-known Japanese song Sakura or a representative Kabuki melody.
Create Memories: Record a video of yourself playing the shamisen—a traditional Japanese instrument with over 300 years of history—and take home a unique memory of your journey.
