Stop 1: Someya Koshiro Residence (Traditional Farmhouse) Meet your guide at Kashiwa Station and enjoy a comfortable 30-minute taxi ride to the scenic countryside of Washinoya. Your first stop is the "Someya Koshiro Residence," a magnificent estate that has been home to a prominent local farming family since the late Edo period. This is not a typical museum, but a private historic home where you can feel the true passage of time. Mochi-Making Demonstration: Witness a fascinating traditional demonstration using authentic farm tools. Watch closely as steaming hot rice is skillfully transformed into smooth, stretchy mochi right before your eyes! Farm-to-Table Lunch: Savor the ultimate rural experience with freshly made mochi. You will be served three classic Japanese flavors: Savory Soy Sauce, Sweet Red Bean (Anko), and Toasted Soybean Flour (Kinako). The meal is completed with warm miso soup and local pickles, providing a true taste of authentic Japanese farmhouse life.
Stop 2: Someya Family Residence (Nationally Recognized Historic Site) After a short walk, arrive at the magnificent "Someya Family Residence." While usually closed on Saturdays, this tour offers you exclusive private access to the entire estate. You will enjoy three special experiences here (the order may vary for each group): 1. Rickshaw Ride: Glide through a serene bamboo path on a traditional rickshaw to visit the local Katori Shrine. 2. Tea Ceremony: Enjoy a "Ryurei-style" (seated) tea ceremony inside the historic doma (earthen-floor) room. 3. Private House Tour: Explore the exquisite details of this historic home in a tranquil setting, all to yourself and away from any crowds. Return to Kashiwa Station: At 14:45, a taxi will pick you up from the residence for a 30-minute ride back to Kashiwa Station, arriving at approximately 15:15.
