A 3-night, 4-day hiking escape created especially for people who want to travel and hike with their dogs.

Explore the Hermanus coastline and mountain trails on professionally guided hikes, then return each day to comfortable, fully fenced dog-friendly accommodation. Breakfasts and dinners are prepared for the group by a private chef, while small group numbers keep the experience personal and relaxed.

The difference is simple: your dog is not an add-on — your dog is part of the experience. Hike together, explore together and enjoy a multi-day getaway designed around both people and their canine companions.

Please note: A minimum of 6 paying guests is required for this Canine Camino to operate. Solo travellers, couples and smaller parties are welcome to book and will join the scheduled departure group. Maximum group size is 8 guests.

Meet at Grotto Beach, on the estuary side in the main parking area. I’ll be there to welcome you, introduce the group and brief everyone before we begin.

    Arrival & Grotto Beach Estuary

    Grotto Beach

    Meet at Grotto Beach at 3:00 PM for a relaxed welcome, group introduction and dog briefing. We’ll enjoy an easy introductory walk around the estuary before heading to our fully fenced, dog-friendly accommodation to settle in before dinner.

    Hermanus Cliff Path & Bientang’s Cave Stop

    Hermanus Cliff Path

    After breakfast, set out on a guided coastal hike along the Hermanus Cliff Path. Follow the coastline through some of Hermanus’s most scenic sections, with ocean views, rocky coves and opportunities to spot marine life and whales in season. We take the day at a comfortable hiking pace with regular stops for water, photographs and the dogs.

    Stop at Bientang’s Cave for a relaxed lunch overlooking Walker Bay. This is a chance to rest, enjoy the views and refuel before continuing. Lunch and drinks are for guests’ own account.

    Fernkloof Mountain Hike & Hermanus Country Market

    Fernkloof Nature Reserve

    After breakfast, head into Fernkloof Nature Reserve for a guided mountain hike through beautiful fynbos and varied terrain, with sweeping views across Hermanus and Walker Bay. We hike at a comfortable pace with regular breaks for water, photographs and the dogs before making our way to the Hermanus Country Market.

    Enjoy a slower final morning after breakfast with an easy dog-friendly walk in Hermanus. It’s a chance to stretch the legs, enjoy the last coastal views and spend some relaxed time together before we wrap up the Canine Camino and say our goodbyes.
