Join Cinnamon Walawwa Cooking Class for an authentic Sri Lankan culinary adventure! My wife Mali and I Sudath guide you through the art of cooking with traditional spices and fresh ingredients, where you'll learn to prepare 7+ traditional Sri Lankan dishes, including curries, coconut sambol, and rice in a village setting. We guide cooking newbies through traditional methods while explaining the benefits, origins, and uses of different spices. During your Spice Garden Walk, you’ll explore our cinnamon trees, learn how real Ceylon cinnamon is grown, harvested, and processed see the local cultivation of pepper and other spices. You will also have the opportunity to buy fresh spices to take home. After enjoying your self-cooked meal with garden fruit, you’ll receive the complete recipes to recreate everything easily at home.

Hotel pickup is available within the Dikwella or Mirissa area. Our professional driver will arrive on time and escort you comfortably to the location. You will receive the vehicle number and driver details in advance, and the driver will be waiting with a signboard displaying your name.

What to expect

Welcome to Cinnamon Walawwa Cooking Class for an authentic Sri Lankan culinary experience. Guests are guided through traditional Sri Lankan cooking techniques using fresh ingredients and time-honoured local spices. The experience is suitable for beginners and includes explanations of the origins, benefits, and uses of each spice used in Sri Lankan cuisine.

The experience begins with a guided Spice Garden Walk, where guests explore cinnamon trees, pepper vines, and other local spices growing naturally in the garden. Guests learn how real Ceylon cinnamon is grown, harvested, peeled, and processed, along with traditional methods of spice preparation.

Following the garden walk, guests take part in a hands-on cooking session, learning to prepare authentic Sri Lankan dishes using traditional methods. The experience concludes with enjoying the self-cooked meal, accompanied by fresh garden fruits.
