30 minute horse trek with views over Lake Rotorua

30 minutes (approximately)
Offered in: English

Your horse treks offer a personal, small-group experience with a maximum of five riders on most departures, allowing guides to provide individual attention and support throughout the ride.

Unlike larger commercial horse-trekking operations, we tailor the experience to the confidence and ability of your riders. Whether you're riding for the first time, bringing young children, or returning to the saddle after many years, we work to ensure you feel comfortable and enjoy your time with the horses.

Your treks take riders through scenic farmland with elevated viewpoints overlooking Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island. Guests can enjoy a relaxed walking-pace ride while connecting with friendly horses and experiencing Rotorua's countryside from a unique perspective.

For nervous riders or families with younger children, we can change to a flatter route. Please let us know when booking if you think that you may prefer not to go up the hill.

What to expect

Begin your experience by meeting your guide and being introduced to your horse. After a safety briefing and basic riding instructions, you'll be matched with a suitable horse based on your confidence and experience level.

Once everyone is comfortable, set off on a guided horse trek at a relaxed walking pace through scenic farmland and countryside. Enjoy the fresh air, rural views, and the unique experience of exploring the landscape on horseback while your guide provides support and assistance throughout the ride.

This shorter trek is ideal for first-time riders, families, younger children, and anyone looking for a gentle introduction to horse riding. We operate in small groups, allowing our guides to provide individual attention when needed.

At the end of the trek, return to the stables, dismount, and spend a few final moments with your horse before your experience concludes.

If you are a nervous rider or would prefer to avoid the steeper sections of the property, please let us know when booking so we can prepare the most suitable route for your group.
