Named the UK’s No.1 City Walking Tour by The Times and The Sunday Times, this immersive experience brings Indian culture in London to life.
Join Vaishali, a British-Indian guide with roots in Gujarat and East Africa, for a journey of history, food, storytelling, and community. Explore a vibrant Hindu temple, learn about rituals and mythology, and (optionally) enjoy a quiet moment of meditation. Try unique dishes from paan to regional sweets and snacks not found in mainstream restaurants. Discover fabrics and patterns from across India with an optional sari draping experience.
Hear personal stories about Indian traditions, the East African Gujarati community and how they turned Ealing Road into “Little India.” Interactive activities, connections with fellow travellers, and a goodie bag make this a warm, sensory-rich, and deeply personal experience.
Come outside of Alperton Underground Station, and immediately to your left, you'll find the Apple Tree Cafe, where you can find me.
The tour will end at the food place where we will have lunch. This is about a 5-minute walk back to Alpteron Underground Station (Piccadilly Line).
Outside and inside the temple, travellers explore its stunning Vedic-inspired architecture, enjoy a guided walk with insights into its design, gods, mythologies, and rituals, and may join an optional silent walking meditation.
At Panachand Paan Centre, travelers watch a unique Indian refreshment being made, get to taste it, and have fun guessing the flavors with other travelers.
At an Indian bakery, travelers can sample a variety of traditional Indian sweets and enjoy guessing the flavors with other travelers.
At B.L. Joshi store, travelers can explore fabrics and prints from different regions of India. Women can learn the art of pleating and sari draping, feeling like a queen wrapped in a sari, while men can try traditional hats and discover the rich East African Gujarati connection that helped revive this part of Wembley.
In the Festival shop, travelers can marvel at the beautifully crafted idols of gods and explore items used in rituals such as incense sticks, lamps, garlands, and crystals.
Travelers can taste regional Indian street food and snacks from Gujarat, dishes rarely found in mainstream restaurants, while learning about the history and regional diversity of Indian cuisine.
