Please pull into the UKEN 79 car park in Uken Village. Your guide will be waiting in front of the wooden UKEN 79 building, on the left-hand side of the road, with a grey sign displaying ‘UKEN 79’.

Itinerary

    Meet your guide at the Uken Village Outdoor Center (UKEN79), the starting point for your private jungle adventure. Receive a short briefing before venturing into the surrounding subtropical forest.

    Follow a forest trail to ancient stone tombs of a village mayor’s family and a samurai, set amidst giant tree ferns and dense jungle. The area is still used for traditional Ryukyu wild boar hunting.

    Take a short drive through Uken Village, then explore a jungle river trail. Cross the river along a rocky path and push through lush Amami foliage to reach a mountain cave once used by villagers centuries ago.

    Walk Uken Village’s historic “god path,” passing the former shaman’s house and village canals. Visit the Habu viper pit and uncover the island’s living traditions.
