History: It was a settlement area heavily populated during the early Christian era (circa 9th century AD). Characteristics: It is spread over three valleys and contains rock-hewn churches, monasteries, living quarters, mills, and tunnels. Religious Structures: Structures such as the Balıklı, Üzümlü, and Geyikli churches bear traces of early Christian art.
