This guided hiking tour explores the preserved sections of the Old Tokaido Road, once used by travelers, samurai, and feudal lords during the Edo period. The tour includes a stop at Hatajuku, a village famous for Yosegi Zaiku, Hakone's traditional marquetry craft. On the way, you'll enjoy a rest at the historic Amasake Chaya teahouse that has been in business for about 400 years. The rest area with exhibition next to the teahouse is also worth seeing. At Moto-Hakone, you see magnificent view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji if weather permits. The tour ends with a visit to the serene Hakone Shrine, surrounded by nature and featuring the iconic Torii gate in the lake.

After taking 15 minute bus ride from Hakone-Yumoto Station (Meeting point) to the trailhead, hike the stone paved road for an hour to Hatajuku, a village famous for Yosegi Zaiku, Hakone's traditional marquetry craft. Visit a craft shop and/or Hatajuku Yosegi Kaikan to see the traditinal craft of Japan.
Take a short bus ride from Hatajuku to Amasake Chaya teahouse where you can enjoy amasake (sweet rice drink) and race cakes as travellers did in the Edo period. After refreshment at the teahouse, hike the Old Tokaido trail to Lake Ashi for an hour. Enjoy the view of Lake Ashi and Mt.Fuji if weather permits.
