Join a guided tour to witness the majestic Fudo Falls—an awe-inspiring 95-meter drop that is revered as a sacred natural monument—completely frozen in winter.

Ride a snowcat for 50 minutes through a shimmering white forest road, comfortably shielded from the cold, until you reach the trailhead. From there, strap on snowshoes for a scenic 3-hour hike. Midway through the course, enjoy a warm lunch and restroom break at the cozy Nekodake Mountain Lodge Café, where hot drinks will help you recharge.

This breathtaking experience lasts about 6 hours from meeting to return, and is perfect even for beginners looking to explore Japan’s winter wilderness.

[For Pickup] Please come to the rotary at the East Exit of Nagano Station (1st floor) by 8:15 AM. A staff member holding a signboard with the Yonago Waterfall logo will be waiting for you.

What to expect

1. Experience Overview
- From the meeting point, a 20-minute ride in a 4WD vehicle takes you to the snowcat boarding area.
- Board the snowcat and enjoy a comfortable 50-minute ride to the trailhead without feeling the cold.
- Join a guided snowshoe trekking tour, walking on packed snow for about 3 hours.
- After about 1 hour of hiking, take a break at Nekodake Mountain Hut for lunch and restroom access. You can leave heavy gear here before visiting Fudōji Inner Temple and Fudō Falls (20-minute round trip). Hot water, tea, and soup are provided free of charge.

Meals are not available at the hut during winter. Please bring your own lunch.
- Conditions:
– Temperature: -5°C to -15°C
– Elevation gain: 230m
– Distance: 1.5km
– Two steep snowy slopes (approx. 30° incline) with safety ropes installed.

2. Participation Guidelines
- The entire course is on snow.
- No prior snow mountain experience is required—ideal for first-timers.
- Trailhead elevation: 1,300m / Fudō Falls elevation: 1,500m
- Suitable for those accustomed to hiking or mountain walking.
Restrooms are available at the meeting point, Nekodake Hut, and the end of the tour. None at the snowcat station or trailhead.
