Bay Area Pier Fishing: Striped Bass Hunting (No license Required)

6 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

The Experience: Striped Bass Hunting – Tides, Physics & The Strike
This is not a relaxing day of sitting around. This is a hands-on, deep-dive masterclass in hunting Striped Bass from the pier. Guided by "Salty," a Mariners Specialist, you will learn to bypass the tourist traps and master the specific mechanics required to land a trophy in heavy current.
Most charters just hand you a rod and hope for the best. We don't operate on hope. Guided by "Salty," a Mariners Specialist, you will learn a "Hunter-Gatherer" approach to targeting Striped Bass that blends modern physics with generational Native knowledge.

You leave with the muscle memory of the retrieve and the knowledge to rig your own gear. You aren't just catching a fish; you are becoming an angler.

What's Included

All gear, bait and tackle is at your disposal.

Meeting and pickup

Meeting point
285 Mare Island Way

We will meet on the waterfront. You can park in the free parking lot at the park.

End point
This activity ends back at the meeting point.

What to expect

Here is exactly what you will do:
Master the "Swimming Retrieve": Stripers are aggressive predators. You will learn the "Swimming" and "Jig" retrievals to mimic the panic of fleeing baitfish, triggering reaction strikes that passive fishing can't match.
The "Salty" Rigging Clinic: Stop losing gear. You will learn to tie professional Texas Rigs and Carolina Rigs, learning how to "peg" your weights to present swimbaits naturally in the Bay's strong tides.
Decode the Water: We teach you to read the water like a map. You will learn to identify "mud lines," current seams, and piling structures where bass ambush prey, removing the guesswork from finding fish.
The Hunt: You will actively work the rail, casting and retrieving with high-quality gear, learning to feel the difference between a rock and the "freight train" hit of a Striper.
What’s Included:
Professional Rods & Reels tailored for Bay currents.
Selection of Swimbaits, Jigs, and Creatures.
Terminal tackle (Weights, Hooks, Beads).
Instruction on sustainable Catch & Release or Filet prep.
