What to expect

Learn the basics of Japanese calligraphy — how to hold the brush, correct posture, and how to use the tools.
You’ll practice basic brush strokes, then write your favorite word or your name in kanji, hiragana, or katakana.
Take home two pieces of artwork: one on traditional shikishi paper and one small piece of your choice (a postcard, mini shikishi, or keychain).
After completing your work, take memorable photos in front of Hokusai or cherry blossom artwork.
You’ll also receive a small souvenir to take home — enjoy it!
