This castle is the biggest rock formation around the Cappadocia. It was still being used by the villagers till 1970. But some part of the castle collapsed. And the government said from now on you must build your houses up there. And this castle was used mostly during the roman empire. Roman soldiers used the castle as a watchtower. They were going up and checking the enemies if they come or not. And why we call this town Uchisar! Uc means very top I mean summit. Hisar means a town or village. So here is the highest point of the region.
You will pass from the gates of museum then Guide will give you some information about there. After that you start to explore the churches together. Inside the churches it is forbidden to take photos with your cameras. And the other thing it is forbidden to speak inside the churches that’s why guide explain all the things outside and you are going the visit them. When we visit a few church, guide will give enough time to see the other churches by yourselves.
In the love valley you will see some huge fairy chimneys. You will have a photo break like 10 or 15 minutes. Some of our guests wonder about why we call there like love valley. It does not have special meaning itself. But in 1980 when visitors came here as a couple, they used to go up there and enjoy the view with the wine. That’s why we call there love valley.
In Pasabagi (also known as Monks Valley because of the Chapel of Saint Simeon found there) wander through the unusual clusters of multi-headed mushroom-shaped “fairy chimneys” (rock formations).
Still in Avanos, visit an authentic pottery workshop located in an underground cave. Clay from the Kizilirmak (Red) River was first used in pottery production by the Hitites prior to 1700BC and continues as an art form today. Watch a master demonstrate how to make a pot, and watch the the painters and glazers apply their delicate patterns. Have a go at the potter’s wheel yourself and make your own unique pot if you wish.
Pigeon Valley (Guvercinlik Vadisi) is one of Cappadocia's most beautiful and popular valleys, located between Goreme and Uchisar. The valley gets its name from the ancient pigeon houses (dovecotes) carved into the soft volcanic rock.
Enjoy local cuisine with a unique view of Cappadocia.
