Begin your Moroccan adventure with a guided tour of Tangier, including the Kasbah, old Medina, Grand Socco, Cap Spartel and the legendary Hercules Cave where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. Overnight in a traditional riad or hotel in Tangier.
Travel through the beautiful Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, famous for its blue-painted streets. After checking into your hotel, enjoy free time to explore the medina, photograph the blue alleys and relax in one of the many cafés.
Explore Chefchaouen with a local guide. Visit the Kasbah Museum, Outa el Hammam Square and Ras El-Ma spring. Optional hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views of the town and surrounding mountains.
Drive to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with impressive mosaics and ancient structures. Continue to Meknes to see Bab Mansour Gate and Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. In the afternoon arrive in Fes.
Enjoy a full guided tour of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. Visit the Royal Palace gates, Jewish Quarter (Mellah), Al-Qarawiyyin University, Bou Inania Madrasa, Nejjarine Fountain and the famous leather tanneries.
A relaxed day to enjoy Fes at your own pace. Optional activities include Moroccan cooking class, traditional hammam, or artisan shopping.
Travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane (the “Switzerland of Morocco”) and visit the cedar forests of Azrou to see wild Barbary monkeys. Continue to Midelt.
Drive through the Ziz Valley oasis toward the Sahara. In Merzouga, mount camels and ride across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes to your desert camp. Enjoy dinner, music and a night under the stars.
After enjoying the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes and breakfast at your desert camp, you will return to Merzouga village by 4x4 to begin a full day of desert discovery. Travel across the golden dunes and rocky desert plains to visit fossil areas, small desert oases and traditional nomadic settlements, where you will meet Berber families and learn about their way of life in the Sahara. Continue to the village of Khamlia, home of the Gnawa people, and enjoy their spiritual African music while discovering their unique culture. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant or with a Berber family, offering a taste of authentic Moroccan cuisine. In the afternoon, enjoy free time in the dunes for relaxation, photography or optional sandboarding. Later in the day, take a camel ride into the dunes to watch the spectacular Sahara sunset before returning to your desert hotel or lodge in Merzouga. Dinner and overnight stay included.
Watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, travel to the dramatic Todra Gorge canyon, then continue to Dades Valley.
