1Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine
A place many anime fans specifically visit, it is considered one of the inspirations for the setting of “Hotarubi no Mori e.” Cedar forests, stone steps, and stone lanterns extend all the way, quiet and a little mysterious. The moment you stand on the approach, you really feel as if you’ve stepped into an animated world.

2Takachiho Gorge
Located at the northern edge of Miyazaki Prefecture, Takachiho is widely known as the setting of ancient Japanese mythology. At Amano-Iwato Shrine in Takachiho Town, there is a cave made of rock, which is said to be the dwelling place of the deity who hid away in anger in the “Amano-Iwato Legend,” during which the world was plunged into darkness. Manai Falls is the symbol of Takachiho Gorge, especially beautiful during the fresh green and autumn foliage seasons, when the waterfall harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding nature. You can also enjoy delicious Japanese set meals at the local specialty restaurants.

3Amano Iwato Shrine
Amano-Iwato Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine in Takachiho, Miyazaki Prefecture, famous for its connection to Japanese mythology. It is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and is said to overlook the sacred cave where she hid herself in the legendary Amano-Iwato story. The shrine consists of the East and West Shrines, surrounded by tranquil forests and spiritual atmosphere. 4Amano Yasugawara
Amano-Yasukawara is a sacred stone cavern near Amano-Iwato Shrine in Takachiho, Miyazaki Prefecture. The site is filled with countless stacked stones left by visitors, creating a mystical and serene atmosphere amid the natural surroundings.
