Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest

Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (祈年殿) The iconic symbol of the Temple of Heaven. This triple‑eaved circular hall with a blue glazed roof was where emperors prayed for a bumper harvest and good weather. Built entirely with wooden structures without nails, it features 28 giant nanmu pillars representing seasons, months, hours and constellations. It stands on a three‑tiered white marble platform, solemn and magnificent.

    Echo Wall

Echo Wall (回音壁) The smooth circular wall surrounding the Imperial Vault of Heaven. It is a famous acoustic wonder: if you whisper softly against one end, visitors at the far end can hear your voice clearly through sound reflection along the curved wall. It also includes the famous Three Echo Stones and Dialogue Stone nearby.

    Yuanqiutan

Circular Mound Altar (圜丘) The main sacred altar for emperors to worship Heaven on the winter solstice. A three‑tiered open circular terrace made of white marble, all stones, steps and railings are designed in multiples of nine (the heavenly number in Chinese culture). Standing on the Central Heavenly Stone at the center, your voice sounds unusually loud and resonant due to sound reflection.
