Your tour begins in the historic centre of Ouidah, at the Temple of Pythons, a mythical place where voodoo traditions, sacred legends and symbols of protection coexist. You will discover the rituals, the spiritual importance of pythons and the history of worship still very much practiced today.
You will continue to the Sacred Forest of Kpassè, a major spiritual space linked to King Kpassè, founder of the city. This place is full of voodoo statues, centuries-old trees and deep stories about worship, deities and traditional royalty.
The visit continues to Brazil House, a museum recounting the history of Afro-Brazilians who returned to Benin in the 19th century, and illustrating cultural exchanges between Africa and the Americas. You will discover unique stories, objects, archives and testimonies.
Finally, you will walk the famous Slave Route, a memory-laden path that leads to the Gate of No Return, the global symbol of the deportation of millions of enslaved Africans.
