At Kyoto Sumo Club, immerse yourself in the exciting world of sumo and discover history, traditions, and culture through an entertaining live show.

The show begins with a traditional geisha dance, followed by demonstrations of exercises, techniques, and sumo etiquette. Then, watch matches between retired sumo wrestlers.
Guests can also experience sumo firsthand by stepping into the ring and challenging one of our sumo wrestlers.

Discover the fascinating world of sumo wrestling at Kyoto Sumo Club, the sister venue of the popular Asakusa Sumo Club in Tokyo. Your experience begins with a traditional Japanese dance performed by a geisha dressed in an elegant kimono, setting the stage for an exciting sumo show. Learn about history, traditions, and culture of sumo as retired professional sumo wrestlers demonstrate traditional warm-up exercises, wrestling techniques, and essential sumo rules. Enjoy unlimited drinks throughout your experience, included in every plan. For an even more authentic taste of sumo culture, choose a meal-inclusive plan and try traditional Chanko-nabe, a hearty dish enjoyed by sumo wrestlers for generations. - Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the show starts.
- The number of challengers for the Sumo Challenge is limited. If there are many applicants, participants will be selected by lottery.
- Vegetarian/vegan/gluten free menu are available upon request, but must be reserved at least 2 days in advance.
- If your friends or family booked separately, please add their name or booking number in the comments. Please arrive together if possible so we can try to seat you in the same area
- Please inform us in advance if your group includes two or more infants under 2 years old.
- Infants aged 0–1 years can join free of charge for the Sumo Show.
- Guests using wheelchairs cannot place them inside the show seating area due to limited space around the sumo ring. Please inform us in advance whether the guest is able to stand and walk a short distance, or if they need to remain seated in the wheelchair during the show. If the guest needs to stay in the wheelchair, we will guide them to a designated wheelchair area.
