10:00am, Llanfyllin Workhouse (built around 1838) Llanfyllin Workhouse for a thoughtful start to the day. You’ll have time to look around and get a feel for the stories of the area before we head out into the hills.
11:15am, Drive to Lake Vyrnwy and scenic loop (built around 1881) We set off for Lake Vyrnwy and begin the drive around the lake, with a couple of natural stopping points for views and photos. It’s an easy-going stretch, with time to take it in rather than rush.
12:15pm, Rhiwagor Waterfall walk (one of the highest in Wales at 100mtrs high) A short walk through countryside to Rhiwagor Waterfall. We’ll keep the pace comfortable and allow time at the waterfall before heading back to the vehicle. Paths can be uneven and muddy after rain, so sturdy footwear helps.
1:15pm, Lunch stop Time for lunch. This can be a picnic stop ( bring your own or we can arrange delicious graze boxes to be prepared , or we can plan around stopping the Artisan cafe by the RSPB viewing cabin or perhaps a cream tea at the hotel, depending on what you’d prefer. 2:15pm, Sculpture Park stroll A gentle wander through the Sculpture Park, a nice, slower moment in the day with plenty to spot as you go. 3:00pm, Dam from the base ( gaze up at the 144ft high construction) We’ll take time to view the dam from the base for a different perspective and a good photo stop.
3:30pm, Drive through Dyfnant Forest( covering over 6000 acres and part of the Owain Glyndwr Way) A quieter, scenic drive through Dyfnant Forest to round off the day before we head back. 5:30pm, Return to Welshpool (finish) Arrive back in the Welshpool area to finish the tour.
