Live a complete cultural and natural experience through the Central Valleys of Oaxaca. The tour begins in Santa Maria del Tule, home to the tree with the widest trunk in the world. We continue to Teotitlán del Valle, where you will know the ancestral art of handwoven mats with natural dyes. In Mitla, you will explore one of the most important archaeological areas of Oaxaca, famous for its unique Greeks. Enjoy a gastronomic break (food not included) before visiting Hierve el Agua, a stunning natural landscape with petrified waterfalls and spectacular views. We finish in Santiago Matatlan, the world capital of the mezcal, with a visit to a traditional palenque to know its artisan process and optional tasting.

    At the Tule Tree, travelers will discover one of the most impressive natural symbols of Oaxaca. It is a majestic egg cellar more than 1,200 years old, recognized worldwide for having the widest trunk on the planet. During the visit, you can walk around the perimeter of the tree, take a close look at the natural figures that form on its trunk — animals and faces identified by local tradition — and listen to the guide’s explanation of its history, origin and cultural significance for the community. There will also be time to take pictures, enjoy the surroundings and get to know the atmosphere of the village that has grown up around this millennial giant. This stop offers a brief but memorable experience, ideal for connecting with the nature, history and identity of Oaxaca.

    In Teotitlán del Valle, travelers will discover one of the most emblematic craft traditions of Oaxaca: the manufacture of handwoven wool mats. During the visit, you will know the complete creation process, from the natural spinning and dyeing of wool with cochineal grain, plants and minerals, to the weaving in pedal loom. Craftsmen will explain the meaning of Zapotec designs, inspired by pre-Hispanic symbols, nature and the ancestral worldview. Travellers will be able to watch live demonstrations, learn how the different natural colours are obtained and have time to admire and purchase authentic mats directly from family workshops, supporting the local economy.     In Mitla, travelers will explore one of the most unique archaeological sites in Mexico, famous for its impressive stone grecas, unique in Mesoamerica. During the guided tour, you will learn about the importance of Mitla as an ancient Zapotec ceremonial center, as well as its spiritual and symbolic function. The guide will explain the meaning of geometric patterns, carved with millimeter precision, representing the link between life, death and the spiritual world. Travelers will walk through stone courtyards, palaces and corridors, while discovering the history, architecture and cultural legacy that distinguishes this site. The experience is complemented by time to take pictures, enjoy the surroundings and understand why Mitla is considered one of the most mystical archaeological sites in Oaxaca.
