This experience offers exclusive access to a modern, minimalist studio designed by a local architect. Unlike standard tourist classes, we combine the mindfulness of whisking your own Matcha green tea with authentic Japanese calligraphy. You will write your chosen Kanji on a premium Washi postcard and mail it home from a vintage Japanese postbox.

Furthermore, the host, a professional designer, offers premium on-site upgrades (payable at the studio). You can choose to have your artwork professionally digitized into vector files (perfect for a lifetime tattoo or logo) or take it home in a custom-made wooden box packed with aromatic Hinoki wood shavings.

MOMOYAMA HILLS 3F, inside the covered Fushimi-Momoyama shopping street. Glass-block building between a snack shop and a tea shop. Ground floor has a small “MEDICAL DENTAL ESTE” sticker. Use stairs. Owner TOMOYUKI will meet you at the entrance. Arrive 5 minutes early.

What to expect

Step away from the crowded tourist spots and discover a serene, hidden studio designed by a local Japanese architect in the historical sake-brewing district of Fushimi-Momoyama. This is not a standard calligraphy class—it is a mindful cultural immersion combining Zen philosophy, Matcha, and the art of Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy).

【What to Expect】
Welcome to our minimalist private studio. Your journey begins with a moment of mindfulness as you whisk your own traditional Matcha green tea to calm your mind.

Next, guided by a professional, we will discuss your personal philosophy to find the perfect Kanji for you (a favorite word, name, or anime-inspired quote). After practicing dynamic brushstrokes, you will create your final masterpiece on an authentic Washi postcard.

After finishing your artwork, we will take a short walk through the local streets to a vintage Japanese red postbox. Drop your Washi postcard into the box to mail it to yourself or your loved ones back home!
